He started at Mind and Body Consultants (now owned by Emerge Aotearoa) in February 2018. Emerge Aotearoa is a national provider of mental health, disability and addiction services that operates in 17 DHB areas and employs 1000 people. They provide mana-enhancing services that promote health and wellbeing for individuals, family, whanau and communities.
Codey manages the Two+ Rethink Programme. A free programme for social housing and education organisations to challenge ideas and encourage social inclusion for people with mental distress. Rethink is the brand under which Mind and Body have been providing Like Minds, Like Mine projects, alongside other work, for about a decade. The name describes the intention of rethink to support people and initiatives that encourage people to “think again” about assumptions and attitudes they might have toward the experience of mental distress. The Two+ Rethink programme (our three part educational programme for schools, tertiary and housing) has support from kaupapa Maori provider Mahitahi Trust and Pasifika community provider Vaka Tautua.
‘Like Minds, Like Mine’ is a public awareness programme funded by the New Zealand government aiming to increase social inclusion and to end discrimination towards people with experience of mental illness or distress. The Health Promotion Agency is the lead operational agency for the programme, with strategic responsibility held by the Ministry of Health.
